Residential repairs & carpentry services

Repairs & Carpentry

Trim pulling off the wall. A stair rail that gives when you lean on it. We work out what moved before we put it back.

Doors & Windows

A door that sticks in summer and drifts open in winter usually isn't the door. It's the jamb. Interior or exterior, we shim until the gap is even top to bottom. We also repair and replace windows.

Drywall

A doorknob hole behind a door, or a ceiling a leak came through. We back the patch so it cannot flex, then feather the mud out until the seam stops showing.

Decks

Boards, rails, and stairs, plus the pressure-treated framing you never see. We look at the ledger and the posts first, since that's where a deck gives out.

Punch Lists

The last items on a build, the ones standing between you and a signature. Hand us the list and we work down it, marking off what's finished.

Turn Checklists

The same checklist every turn, so the last unit gets what the first one got. Nail holes filled, the door that never latched rehung, the dead fixture swapped.

Not our lane: tile of any kind, driveways and large concrete, HVAC, large electrical, and large plumbing. Ask on the first call and we'll give you a name for the rest.

Clay Bucy, owner of Mission Ready Repairs, in front of his U.S. Air Force service plaques U.S. Air Force veteran emblem

My name is Clay Bucy.

My grandpa served in the Navy during World War II and then went to work as a carpenter, and my dad served in the Air Force in Vietnam and after that he went back to work as a carpenter. I joined the U.S. Air Force to work on jets; they needed a carpenter, and I stayed in that role for thirty years. I built houses in Ohio and living quarters on three continents, plus Iraq and Afghanistan. I retired, put my tools in a shop here in Spartanburg, and opened Mission Ready Repairs in September 2025.

I look the whole job over before I pick up a tool, and I tell you what I find. I clean up before I leave. And I'll tell you why the door quit latching, because most people would rather understand the house they live in than watch somebody fix it and drive off.

I still check every horizontal and vertical object with a level instead of trusting my eye.

What homeowners tell Google

Every review on our Google listing is five stars. These are pulled from it word for word.

What sets Clay apart is his honesty, craftsmanship, and commitment to quality. He takes the time to evaluate the problem, explains your options, and focuses on the solution that makes the most sense for you; not his wallet. In today's world, that's hard to find.

Joe Duncan On doing it right the first time

We had a front porch repair that turned out to be more involved than initially anticipated. Clay with Mission Ready Repairs did a fantastic job. He made sure the repair was completed thoroughly, with great attention to detail and care.

Blackwell Murray Front porch repair

Clay and Kim are awesome, professional, talented, thorough and punctual. We have a one hundred year house that may not have a level line in it. … Tough project, I believe he can handle anything.

Adam Escobedo Nine custom tongue-and-groove doors

They explained the whole process of my kitchen renovation from start to finish and helped me feel really assured as a first-time home owner. If you want a team that will go above and beyond for you and your project, this family-based team should be the first place that you look.

Questions we get asked

What kind of jobs do you take?

Small residential repairs and carpentry: drywall patching, doors, ceiling fans and light fixtures, TV and shelf mounting, decks, punch lists, and under-sink plumbing. Mission Ready Repairs exists for the jobs bigger contractors won't book, so a single hole in a wall or one door that won't latch is a normal call here, not too small.

What don't you do?

Tile of any kind, HVAC, large electrical, large plumbing, and driveways or large concrete. Ceiling fans and light fixtures yes, new circuits and panels no. Under-sink plumbing yes, re-pipes and water heaters no. Clay stays inside what a carpenter can do properly, and for the rest he sends you to somebody good.

What areas do you serve?

Four Upstate South Carolina counties: Spartanburg, Greenville, Anderson, and Pickens. From our base in Spartanburg that includes Boiling Springs, Inman, Duncan, Landrum, Greer, Simpsonville, Mauldin, Travelers Rest, Anderson, Belton, Williamston, Pendleton, Easley, Clemson, Pickens, Liberty, and Central. If you're near the edge of that map, call (864) 529-9975 and ask.

Who will actually show up at my house?

Clay Bucy, the owner. He is a U.S. Air Force veteran and a third-generation master carpenter, more than thirty years at the trade, and he built houses in Ohio and living quarters on three continents before he opened this shop in September 2025. The business is insured. You get the owner on the phone and the owner in the house, and he'll walk you through why the thing failed before he packs up.
